Komar Rikreay has an extensive experience of outreach work. At first intervening mostly at the dumpsite and with street living children, we reinforced our project at families and communities’ level.
Communities and families empowerment Program is the coordination of 3 types of interventions within vulnerable communities (including Battambang slums), where children are at risk of combined rights’ violation. :
- I Am A Child project, initiated with World Concern Asia in 2011, mostly focus on access to education in Battambang slums, including services such as education support to send children to public school, informal education through School on the Mat and a Mobile library.
- ChildSafe Network and Hotline project, created by Friends International and implemented by local organisations, provides community actors with the capacity to identify andalert about child abuse thanks to training and follow-up.
- Family Support project, initially implanted through the support of USAID, aims at providing a wide range of socials services to poor families in order to prevent unnecessary separation, but also families where parents have migrated already leaving behind children and grand-parents.
